Getting ready to travel -- namely to the Asian Pacific -- Hong Kong and the Philippines. Am starting to arrange some freelance articles and photos for travel sections of various newspaper and magazines. Still doing freelance editing for various writers--some based overseas, including Holland, Japan, and Vietnam. It keeps me busy.

Hi all (and kamusta ka!),
As a writer/editor, I still keep involved with "teaching"--in that the work I do with manuals, user guides, procedures, policies, and brochures and such is *instructional* and helps people learn how to do their jobs. My family is sort of weird in that my wife (also a former parochial, public school, and university instructor/teacher) and I homeschooled our two kids. Both kids are grown-up, out of the house, and successful in their own ways. My son is married, has a daughter of his own, and works with learning-disabled kids... my daughter is an operations manager for a flight training school at a local airport and is not only attending community college but is also learning how to fly airplanes. She's hoping to be a certified flight instructor by the end of the year. --Hey, I taught her how to drive and that was scary enough! But airplanes? aaargh!

I'm a sort of "regular contributor" for the California Homeschooler magazine (have had 4 articles published so far) and I'm developing curriculum in science (marine biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science) for homeschoolers (mostly) but also for any teachers who need to supplement what they have. I'm also playing with the idea of a curriculum for Japanese and Russian... but I'm thinking that perhaps someone with quite a bit more linguistic ability would be better qualified to do this thing.

Well... playing on the computer is my *hobby* ... sort of ... I've got a bunch of Squidoos (that I use for "testing" some of my "curriculum'" and article ideas ... and I also use my MySpace blog to get ideas (comments from readers, sometimes) for my Squidoos...

Squidoos? Hey... all the teachers here are *experts* in *something*... so all of you could be producing *Squidoos*! Here are mine--http://www.squidoo.com/lensmasters/editordave

I always enjoy *communicating* and sharing with fellow teachers... kicking around ideas... classroom methods... learning styles... and so on.

Drop a line when you get a chance.

Regards,
Dave Gardner
